Quantum Of Solace

Quantum Of Solace starts right where Casino Royale left off. Mr White has been captured and is about to interrogated, James Bond has been betrayed by his love, Vesper, and there is a new organization that MI6 is just learning of that is so secret that it has been able to plant moles on the inside of MI6.

James Bond is leaner , more realistic than as played by Daniel Craig than I think of any of the other bonds. Everyone wants to compare Bond him to Sean Connery, I'm starting to think that Daniel Craig will be given that title in the future and they will have to compare all the other bonds to him. Wow, 46 years of Bond and no sight to the end of the franchise. Finally  I have a character  that is starting to almost make sense. Bond is vulnerable, relentless, loyal to a fault, but for some reason with treason on the inside, everyone is suspect.

So from a link from White to a bank account in Haiti , to a mysterious Mr Greene that can overthrow governments and actually offers to topple Bolivia in exchange for a peace of land, the story leads us through Italy, Austria, South America. I loved Siena and you'll get a glimpse of the Piazza de campo - Siena, Italy with running of the horses, not that it is relevant to the story or plot. When I visited it , it was quite and sedate atthe piazza.  Even the starting chase scene is a little weird but sets the tone for a total action packed, full blown CGI and special effects movie. Craig must have need a dozen doubles to take all the punches, falls, and explosions in making the movie.

Gone are Q and Money Penny and the quirky named of characters. Some will say it adds realism and dignity , others are going to miss this. I personally liked the exchanges with Q and Money Penny but don't miss the stupid names.

The movie itself has a loose script, skimpy dialog but delvers on the action. I hope the next movie gives us a little more plot and a new story line, as long as people spend  hundreds of millions on Bond they will find a reason to bring him back.

Leave the small kids behind . please...
